We were contacted originally in 2020 to investigate and maintain a multi smoke shaft system with Bilco staircase roof hatches in the city by upper Thames Street.

We discovered that a considerable number of fire doors fitted to the vertical smoke shafts would no longer operate due to moisture invasion causing the doors to warp and swell.

For some time, magnets have been considered as impractical and unsafe in fires giving way to multiple operations due to power loss.

The client asked for a practical solution, therefore advanced air dampers were offered with a Osloop driven controls system.

FTG successfully installed 38 advanced air dampers and 3 separate Osloop control system to bring this building up to date with a modern smoke vent system

The client altered the fire alarm strategy, and a successful horizontal fire strategy was in place leaving any fire opening the fire floors 3no Smoke shaft protected fire fighter’s lobbies and protected staircase.

All fully commissioned and a very happy customer with a project delivery on time and in alignment with the client’s expectations.

AstraZeneca

The controls were difficult in conception being able to fulfil the client's expectations because we used the SE Controls Shevtec range we were able to meet every requirement.
