Our History
FTG was started 35 years ago by Paul Goldsmith, one of the leading smoke vent specialists in the UK.
Paul’s depth of experience in the industry is unrivalled. He sits on the Executive Committee of the Smoke Control Association, who has personally trained over 30 apprentices, many of whom remain with FTG to this day.
Paul began FTG 35 years ago and has worked alongside almost all of the leading manufacturers of smoke ventilation products during this time. Quite simply, Paul cares. He cares about his team, he cares about standards, he cares about quality workmanship, he cares about providing a project on time and on budget and he cares about the people who live, work and play in the buildings we work on.
Paul is the Industry go to for solutions to almost every smoke ventilation or mechanical extract issue and is always there for advice.
Our Team
Our team of engineers are fully supported by our super competent office team, as are our customers. Our office team are there to to support you, so please do get in touch should you have any questions or concern. I completed my apprenticeship with FTG and am now starting my journey through the career structure. The training and support we receive is so good.
I have worked for FTG for many years as a subcontractor and more recently a permanent member of the team. I have always felt respected and supported by them and enjoy passing my skills on to the newer members of the team.

Membership & Accreditation
We are audited annually by the BSI for our ISO 9001:2015 accreditation and the IFC to ensure that we are always operating at the optimum level. You can view our current certification here.
We are also members of NIC/EIC again assessed each year by this rigorous organisation. Additionally we chose CHAS and Construction line to add to our suite of accreditations to reinforce our commitment to excellence.
We have been awarded certification from CHAS after demonstrating compliance
with the CHAS standards in line with the requirement of SSIP

Training
Our team have a clear and rigorous training programme from college, specific product training and extensive work experience with our lead engineers all of whom have been with FTG for well over a decade and more.
We have also just invested in the entire team receiving the first ever smoke ventilation legal framework training in the country as part of our teams CPD. This has been talked about for years within the Industry and we are so pleased to have secured the services of Paul White CEng BEng MIMechE and a valued and much respected member of the SCA.
Our Expertise
We have over 35 years of successful delivery of these services and literally hundreds of combined years of experience on the team clearly demonstrating that we are the only one stop shop in this highly regulated Industry. FTG is and has always been about promoting excellence within this Industry which is why we maintain our membership of the Smoke Control Association (SCA) and chose to become accredited by the IFC, a UKAS supported accreditation and also ISO 9001:2015 through the bsi.
